Socially conscious wine label available at New World Rangiora from this week
A North Canterbury wine label working to help survivors of slavery will be available in a local store for the first time this week.
Grape growers Pete and Alanna Chapman started social enterprise 27seconds in Waipara just over a year ago.
The couple have partnered with Hagar International, an organisation that works with survivors of slavery and abuse in Afghanistan, Cambodia and Vietnam, to ensure 100 per cent of their wine's profits are used to help survivors of slavery.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
