Parvo Virus in Dogs
I had reported to us this morning at the Kennels about a potential Parvo Virus outbreak in the area. On phoning the local Kaiapoi vets we were able to confirm they have had no cases recently reported to them. Hopefully the comments by a client were unfounded. But we at Glenstar take this very seriously.
Parvo virus can be fatal to the very young and elderly dogs particularly those who have not been vaccinated. It spreads rapidly. However it may be a timely reminder to check your dogs vaccination card and ensure they are fully vaccinated for this fatal disease. If boarding dogs over Christmas New Year it is also essential that Kennel cough vaccine which is yearly one is given at least 10 days before you go on holiday.
