Emergency Mobile Alerts are not meant to replace other emergency alerts, or the need to take action after natural warnings.
You still need to be prepared for an emergency and you should not wait to get an alert before you act. If you feel your life is in danger, don’t wait for an official warning. Take immediate action.

Parts of the South Island have been plunged back into winter, with roads closed and snow warnings issued.

We got to hear all about the amazing work going on with Neighbourhood Support, the newcomers network and the cool peeps at Mid Canterbury TimeBank. Then we shot up north to visit the AMAZING crew at Waimakariri District Council who are putting on some amazing events in parks in the next few months. We also got to meet Manda at North Canterbury Chicken Rescue, and some of the amazing volunteers at It Takes a Village! Incredible stuff happening across Canterbury
