Kupe had a pet

Social Media Manager from Tuia 250 ki Tōtaranui

Kupe is said to have had a pet rupe (pigeon).

According to Ngati Kuia tradition Kupe's pigeon visited Mt Furneaux / Puhikereru and Te Rupe o Ruapaka near Canvastown looking for good sources of food.
