Watch out for toxic algae
Toxic algae are starting to appear in some Marlborough streams and rivers. Parents and dog owners are warned that it poses a health risk to children and animals.
While higher concentrations of the algae are present in parts of the Omaka and Wairau rivers, please be aware that it could be present in other areas.
The naturally occurring toxic algae are more prolific in summer when longer days and higher temperatures provide good growing conditions.
