Parksyde Older Persons

Parksyde was opened in August 2001 as an event centre for the 55+ age group and was one of the Rotorua Energy Charitable Trust's millennium projects. Parksyde is owned and operated by the Older Persons Charitable Trust and is the only one of its kind in the country.

We are not a retirement village or a day care centre for the elderly but simply an Event Centre providing activities for the 55+ age group. No membership is required; a small fee is charged for each activity, but no children please. We have a full commercial kitchen catering for lunches and functions which is also available for hire. Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
