Winter Costs - Heating

The Team from Citizens Advice Bureau Marlborough

You may be able to get help with the cost of heating your home through the Winter Energy Payment, the Warmer Kiwi Homes subsidy, or a local council scheme.
If you receive a Work and Income benefit (including New Zealand Superannuation or Veteran's Pension), you will automatically receive a Winter Energy Payment of about $20-$30 a week, depending on whether you are single, or a couple and whether you have dependent children. It is paid over the winter months from 1 May until 1 October.
If you are finding it difficult to pay your power bills due to financial hardship, talk to your energy provider. For example, they might refer you to a budgeting provider or Work and Income, or work out a payment plan for you. They should only disconnect your power as a last resort.

Volunteer required - Meals on Wheels drivers required

Service Centre Coordinator from Red Cross - Marlborough Service Centre

Want to make a difference in Blenheim. New Zealand Red Cross urgently needs volunteers to help deliver Meals on Wheels, and would love to have your help!
The Meals on Wheels service delivers nutritious meals to people living at home who aren’t able to cook for themselves because of health problems, disability or age. It's more than just delivering food – it paves the way for friendship and companionship for people who are often isolated and vulnerable. [Red Cross volunteers deliver Meals on Wheels in 33 locations across Aotearoa New Zealand]. The role involves picking up meals from a set location and then delivering it to people at lunchtime and having a brief chat at the door. If you’re friendly and caring, have a driver’s license and your own vehicle, and can give at least two hours of your time to do a weekday delivery each month, this volunteer role is for you! Apply now www.redcross.org.nz...
