Residents protest proposed quarry at Rangiora Racecourse
Rangiora residents concerned about a proposed quarry on their doorsteps are showing no sign of giving up their fight as the deadline for submissions nears.
About 50 people staged a protest outside the entrance to Taggart Earthmoving Ltd on Saturday morning to convey their concerns about the planned quarry at Rangiora Racecourse.
Opposition has rapidly grown since the quarry application was publicly notified at the end of October, particularly among residents in northwest Rangiora, who live near the racecourse.
Many of those protesting said they had grave reservations about the effects of quarrying on the health of those living nearby.
What are your thoughts on the proposed quarry?
Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?
An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.
When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
