Poll: Do you support the construction of the Belfast to Kaiapoi cycleway?

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from Northern Outlook

The construction of part of a North Canterbury cycleway has been put on hold after affected residents raised concerns about safety and losing parking spaces.

Kaiapoi’s Peraki St was meant to form part of the Waimakariri District Council’s new Belfast to Kaiapoi cycleway, but residents say they have safety concerns due to the potential increase in cyclists, reduction in parking, and the effect of proposed traffic-calming measures including speed humps.

What do you think about the proposed cycleway? Is it a good idea, or is it going in the wrong place? Or do you think it's unnecessary altogether? Read more here and tell us what you think in the comments below.
