Burst watermain - 19 Parumoana Street, Porirua

The Team from Wellington Water

⚠️ FINAL UPDATE 3:00 pm: Burst watermain - 19 Parumoana Street, Porirua

Our crews have repaired the pipe.

It will take some time to get water through to everyone and our crews will be checking and flushing hydrants in the Takapūwāhia area for the next 30 minutes in order to clear the pipes of any cloudy water or air pockets.
Please allow 30 minutes to an hour before returning to normal water usage.

People should run a cold tap for a few minutes to clear any air pockets or cloudy water from their pipes before using hot taps, dishwashers and washing machines.

The team will be in the area for a while yet backfilling the excavation and cleaning up the site.

This is our last and final update. Thank you everyone for your patience!⚠️ UPDATE 9:30 am

---

Crews have started the repair. As per the map below, all streets within the red zone are impacted by the shutdown.

We are urgently sending water tankers to the site. One tanker will be stationary outside 25 Awarua Street, Elsdon (The Elsdon Foodmarket) and the other will be roving the area to supply water to any residents as required.

Due to the burst we are asking people in Titahi Bay to conserve water to help manage demand on the network. You can do this by taking shorter showers, holding off doing the laundry or watering the garden.

Further updates to be provided.

---

Our crews are responding to a burst watermain outside Harvey Norman at 19 Parumoana Street which has flooded the carpark.

Our team are quickly isolating the area now. People in the area, and in Takapūwāhia, may experience low water pressure or no water at all. It is anticipated that service will be interrupted for at least 4 – 5 hours.

We are awaiting urgent mark outs and traffic control before the repair work can can begin. Further updates will be provided once the crew have started the repair.

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.

When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
