Are you

wanting to learn about your community
able to make a ongoing time commitment
We are currently organising our next Volunteer Interviewer Training and are looking for people who are interested in supporting others with accessing information, to ensure that they are aware of their rights and are better equipped to deal with their everyday life and challenges.
Citizens Advice Bureau will train you in the basics and provide ongoing training and support. Initial training involves 6 half day sessions, then being paired with a mentor to ensure you are supported along the journey to becoming an accredited bureau interviewer.
We are looking for long term volunteers who can commit to one or two, 3 hour shifts each week, between 9.30-3.30 weekdays.
We have a great team of volunteers with a wide range of skills and experience. Are you able to add your skills to our Bureau?
We would be very interested in speaking with you!
If you are interested please contact Porirua Citizens Advice Bureau on 04 237 8846 or email manager.porirua@cab.org.nz
You can find us on the 2nd floor, Pember House
16 Hagley Street, Porirua
We are open 9.30am - 3.30pm Monday - Friday
What's your favourite recipe for courgettes?
Kia ora neighbours. If you've got a family recipe for courgettes, we'd love to see it and maybe publish it in our magazine. Send your recipe to mailbox@nzgardener.co.nz, and if we use it in the mag, you will receive a free copy of our January 2025 issue.
Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.

The Hikoi on Tuesday 19th
I copied this from a Facebook page: The expected route of the hīkoi on Tuesday is from Takapuwahia Maree in Esldon towards Porirua and along Kenepuru Drive to Tawa, then up Middleton Road to Johnsonville, down Ngaraunga George and along the old Hutt Road to Wellington. They are anticipating significant congestion on the roads between 06.00am and 12.30pm.
