Harbourview Care Home in Porirua will close next year

Nicholas Boyack Reporter from Community News

Bupa is closing its Porirua rest home facility, Harvourview. It will close next year and the 54 residents will hav to find new accommodation.
The company said it would work with residents to find alternative care homes. Bupa also owns Bupa Crofton Downs and Bupa Whitby.
Those who will need to find new accommodation include 97 year-old Myra Leggett.
Porirua mayor Anita Baker said earlier this week the closure of the care home would be a “huge blow” for Porirua. She said up to 60 jobs could be lost and Porirua residents would have to travel further to see their relatives.
