Rotary Children's Christmas Party
The welcome by the Christmas Fairy and Harold the Life Education giraffe is always a delight. Allan and Barbara Nichols had everything under control. The magician, Nigel Kennedy, was eagerly anticipated and did not fail to entertain with balloon magic and the appearance of Mr. Rabbit. He made Callum into an alien. Abigail treated us to her magic words and became a swan. Sophie with her Xmas glasses became a flower.
You know the expression, 'You just had to be there'?
Ashton's reward, as the Magician knighted him Sir Ashton with the balloon sword, was a delighted giggle.
Sullivan received an outstanding motorbike.
Mya was wonderful with the Santa puzzle and all the Magician's helpers took a bow.
The audience showed their appreciation and lined up for a gentle pat of Mr. Rabbit who'd been enjoying the fun from his position on top of his cage.
Alan introduced Santa and the Christmas Fairy who delighted the children with gifts. The audience was rewarded with a lovely meal with special boxes for the children.
President Euon thanked Allan, Barbara, Harold the Giraffe (visiting courtesy of Life Education Trust), Santa and Santa’s Fairy and wished everyone a very safe and Merry Christmas.
Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.

The Hikoi on Tuesday 19th
I copied this from a Facebook page: The expected route of the hīkoi on Tuesday is from Takapuwahia Maree in Esldon towards Porirua and along Kenepuru Drive to Tawa, then up Middleton Road to Johnsonville, down Ngaraunga George and along the old Hutt Road to Wellington. They are anticipating significant congestion on the roads between 06.00am and 12.30pm.
