Hydrotherapy Pool
A challenge goes out to all Local Council candidates.
Do any of you, or your family members suffer from chronic pain or other afflictions that would benefit from hydrotherapy?
Would you wish to support a hydrotherapy facility in our community?
Out of all the candidates, four have indicated their interest in the Health and community need.
It seems totally unacceptable that a person who suffers from a chronic condition - fibromyalgia, arthritis, Ehlers Danlos and many other health conditions, has such difficulty in accessing a hydrotherapy pool and has to consider travelling to the Hutt, Levin or Kilbirnie, so they can enjoy the benefits of hydrotherapy.
What is required?
A heated (32 degrees cels
ius), pool for walking, swimming and aerobic exercises.
Where could a pool be located? Any ideas please?
Sources of finance? (In random order)
KCDC, CCDHB, local physiotherapists, patrons, ACC, GP's, Lions, Rotary, Disability Services.
The Kapiti Aquatic Centre do not provide a pool at the appropriate temperature.
There are no other available pools that are offered to members of the public. Retirement village pools are only available to their residents.
The CCDHB does fund rehabilitation hydrotherapy for some post surgery patients and others but they are of limited duration.
Come on candidates, now is your chance to take a stand for older people and those with disabilities who require the warmer water than that is offered at the Aquatic Centre, and a permanent timetable that allows this wonderful resource to be available regularly to those in desperate need of this facility.
Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
