Access to MacDonald Cres via The Terrace is still available.
As part of our works to repair the wastewater leak, our team came across a collapsed section of pipe which requires urgent repair. This resulted in immediate road closure, meaning we couldn't advise the public earlier.
As a part of this urgent work, a pumping truck will be on site. We will aim to keep noise down, however we expect the truck to run until 7pm.
We are working with affected residents and businesses to keep them updated on any increased noise.
We will provide an update tomorrow on the status of the road closure.

As part of our works to repair the wastewater leak at the intersection of Willis St and Dixon St, we need to close the western side of Dixon St.
We have found an issue that we need to investigate which requires closure of this section of the road.
We will provide an update later this afternoon.

Heavy trucks are going to be stopped regularly on SH1 to be weighed and tested before going onto the new Transmission Gully Expressway. This will increase the possibility of collision as they are pulled off SH1 and expected to drive onto a small rural road. And then, if the heavy trucks want to go North, they will have to drive under an inadequate underpass along with increased traffic from all residents in Paekakariki. As we have just been informed their only way onto the new expressway will be to come up to MacKays, go through the underpass and around Emerald Glen roundabout, which is also too small and inadequate for all the increased traffic use.
Those of us who might like to walk, ride a bike or a horse in this area will be taking our lives into our hands. NZTA, DOC and NZ Police need to be held accountable for the safety of ALL road users and recreational users.
We have only had one public information meeting about this proposed building.
A small, yet dedicated team of residents from Emerald Glen Road have been corresponding with NZTA and the Minister of Transport since September 2019.
It appears no one is taking into account the multiple safety issues being raised. This includes that the proposed building will be constructed over an active earthquake fault line.
Please share widely as there are potentially 500,000 people in the Wellington Region who will be affected by the construction of this planned building. We also know there are five other safer sites that have been identified and NZTA refuse to acknowledge or even consider using them.
