NZ Art Show - Jervois Quay closure

Micheline from Paraparaumu

Hi there,

Just to let you know that if you are planning on coming to the NZ Art Show this weekend, it is probably best to take the train. Here's info from the NZ Art Show website:

***UPDATE, just been informed Kapiti line will be replaced by buses this weekend too...never mind, car option might be best still for Kapiti, lol. ***

"Jervois Quay, in front of the TSB Arena, will be closed in both directions commencing Thursday June 3rd from 7pm until 6am Tuesday June 8th. Much needed storm water pipes are being installed.

The NZ Art Show is taking place in the TSB Arena over this Queens Birthday period. We apologise for the inconvenience but we know that the effort to visit the NZ Art Show will be worth it!

Southbound detours will be in place along Featherston Street, Hunter Street, Victoria Street and Willeston Street and northbound drivers will have a range of options along Lambton Quay, The Terrace and SH1.

The Wilson carpark underneath Queens Wharf will be available as normal – access will be via via Lady Elizabeth Lane, opposite Whitmore Street.

Traffic will be controlled and it will be clearly signposted. A separate temporary drop off and loading area will be available for picking up your purchases.

See the map below for the closure details and rest assured we will keep you updated at all times.

We thank you for your patience and encourage you to visit the NZ Art Show – so much creative NZ talent all under one roof – don’t let road works get in your way!

I can assure you that we will do everything we can to minimise the impact, the timing is not ideal and we are disappointed, but this work is important for the city and we remain positive."

Many thanks and hope to see you there!

Micheline

New Kāinga Ora state housing development in Raumati/Paraparaumu

Glen Olsen from Parapraumu Community Board

"The Paraparaumu Community Board has learnt that Kāinga Ora recently signed an agreement with Gibbons and Co. confirming their intention to purchase 26 two and three-bedroom homes at 112 Old Main Road Ramauti (Old SH1). The developer is responsible for managing all aspects of the consenting and construction process, including site preparation and delivery of the new homes.

The residences will consist of 15 two-bedroom and 11 three-bedroom homes, fully insulated, with carpets, curtains and double glazing. Each home will have a private, low-maintenance garden and two shared community gardens in the heart of the development. These new state homes are expected to be ready for local people and families to move into by late 2025.

Kāinga Ora has been working collaboratively with the developer Gibbons and Co. to ensure the homes will best meet the needs of the people and families who will live there and the community. "

We hope Kāinga Ora will stay to their word, with priority given to local people and families in need, above others relocated from outside our district.

While this development is in Ramuati, it falls under the Paraparaumu Community Board; thank you to the Raumati Community Board for sending over the information.

Our board and the Ramuati Community Board will continue to monitor this development.
