Kāpiti Coast District Council is reminding people that it is phasing out cheques.
Cheques are checking out! Banks in New Zealand are phasing out the use of the payment method which means we will no longer be able to take cheques for rates or services. From 15 June this year we will no longer be accepting cheques. There are loads of other ways to make payments, like direct debit, EFTPOS or internet banking, but we realise this change may be disconcerting for some. The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)

Art Trail
We had a total 0f 508 visitors for the Kapiti Art Trail--such a pleasure meeting everyone and sharing our interest in the Arts and Crafts of the Kapiti Coast. Looking forward to some summer activity here at the gallery. We will let you know about upcoming events.
