Concerns, re: TREMORS CAUSED BY THE MOTORWAY CONSTRUCTION

Megren from Karaka

Hi all,

Has anyone been at home during the day and felt the house move/tremor (similar to that of a small aftershock). I'm assuming its a result of a preceding thud created by the motorway construction equipment being used.

My concern is; are those tremors being endured by our properties okay?
I do understand that houses are built with certain tolerances/structural integrity for such instances, but I am still concerned when I actually feel the tremors - (it rattles the crockery and if upstairs I can feel a slight sway!).

Hence, I write to you, my neighbours that are living close to the motorway construction site and ask that if you are also experiencing it or just concerned about it from reading this, then please submit a request to Auckland council?
Ideally, this will get the council to measure the tremors to assess if it's threatening to the surrounding buildings in any way.

Hoping it's nothing but rather be safe than sorry and if a few of you submit the request, it should at least get the councils attention to provide a response.

Here's the link to report it: www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz...

Regards,
Megren

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
