Kelvin Grove discussion & AGM meeting
Kelvin Grove Community Association AGM (founded 1901)
(Annual General Meeting) 1 pm, 21st July, 2018
At Kelvin Grove Community Centre, 68 Kaimanawa St., Palmerston North – back room accessed by using the path on the right side of the building to the back, then 2nd door.
You are invited, we would appreciate your attendance. Who are we?
The Kelvin Grove Community Association is an advocate for the community, facilities, amenities & development of Kelvin Grove to maintain the community standards of the area including groups within the Kelvin Grove boundaries. It also oversees use of the Kelvin Grove Community Centre, 68 Kaimanawa St.
You are welcome to inspect the facility between 1 pm & 2 pm on the AGM day – 21 July, before our meeting starts.
Our Guest speakers will be >
• Leonie Hatepa, Palmerston North City Councillor & Kelvin Grove resident.
• Susan Baty, Palmerston North City Councillor, is a member of the REACH community group (Roslyn Education and Community Health) who work on projects in Roslyn
• Julia (pronounced Yoolia) Panfylova - talking & illustrating about her home country, Ukraine, we’ve heard of Ukraine but know little about it. Population of 42 million, 2 ¼ times larger than NZ & located in the middle of Europe.
We are all interested in the future development in our area, including infrastructural plans, additional leisure parks, car park for our Centre, the mooted new Kelvin Grove Hub, road safety especially the Roberts Line & James Line intersections with Napier Road, all knowledge of our local future.
During the past 3 years our Association (KGCA) has donated nearly $40,00 towards local community projects – viz. $12,500 towards the twin Flying Fox at Linklater Reserve still under construction, $15,000 towards the Central Energy Wild Base Recovery project & about $11,000 towards the swing bridge at Linklater Reserve in 2016.
These funds have been earned by our administering the use of the Kelvin Grove Community Centre on behalf of the Palmerston North City Council. Our committee has been very active to ensure the centre has been available to many functions such as education, birthdays, baptisms, weddings, sport, dancing, cultural, religious, political, socials & meetings. A Power Point on screen display will keep you informed.
We thank the Palmerston North City Council, again cooperative in the past fiscal year, refurbishing the hall floor, painting front & back lobbies, re-carpeting & painting the back-meeting room where the AGM will be held, while KGCA has replaced the back-room curtains, added a plug n play stereo sound system in the hall, as well as upgrades of smaller items, so we’re proud of our joint achievements.
The Kaimanawa Park play area adjoining the Centre has also had a new “furniture” upgrade.
A note to say you’re attending would help us prepare seating & catering arrangements. All attendees will receive KGCA membership thus entitling you to vote. Our Constitution requires all Committee seats declared vacant & an election of a Committee will take place during the AGM. We welcome new Committee members.
