Tuition - Research

Tony from Maths Pro Manawatu

There have been a number of studies and meta analysis that focused on the effectiveness of one-to-one tuition. Some of these studies include:

1. Professor Benjamin Bloom, who examined the impact of one-to-one tutoring on students' academic achievement. The study concluded that students who received individualised tutoring outperformed 98% of their peers who did not receive such tutoring.

2. Education Endowment Foundation (EEF), an independent charity in the UK that funds education research and evaluates the impact of educational interventions. They have conducted numerous randomised controlled trials on one-to-one tutoring, which have consistently shown positive effects on academic attainment.

3. Meta-analyses combine and analyse data from multiple studies to derive broader conclusions. Several meta-analyses have been conducted on the effectiveness of one-to-one tutoring, such as those by Slavin, Cheung, Pellegrini and Hattie, which demonstrate the positive impact of tutoring and its inbedded practices, across various academic disciplines.

Birds nesting on our riverbanks

Pat from Feilding

Hi neighbours
Could you please ask everyone you know with a love of driving their 4WD in our rivers, to please stay away for the next few months. There are birds nesting in the gravel, and chicks exploring, and they are highly vulnerable to vehicles, as well as off-leash dogs. I saw some just this morning, so please respect their space. Thank you!
