Become an Amateur Radio Operator

The Manawatu Amateur Radio Society is running 11 weekly beginners classes starting in May culminating in a weekend activity in August where participants can sit their Amateur Radio Operators Certificate which consists of 60 multi-choice questions. Amateur Radio is now a fast growing field of communications which encompasses tradition radio communications through to computer based digital, micro-computers and satellite communications - there is something for everyone interested in electronics, communications and technology in general. Beginners classes will be broadcast over Zoom for those who can't make the 2 hour evening classes

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
