Lunchtime Concert, June 29, Methodist Centre, 12.15 pm
Next weeks lunchtime concert at the Methodist Centre (Whiteley Memorial Church) has a double billing. The winning group from the recent Taranaki Chamber music Contest, Vasterny Trio, will perform. Next week this group travel to the Regional Chamber Music Finals in Auckland. The group comprises Varya Kern (flute), Nancy Yu (flute) and Aster Danenhauer (piano).
Hazel Simes, now studying at the University of Otago will sing some songs from musical theater and also perform on her flute.
This should be a memorable concert. Koha appreciated.
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
