Study Awards Available!

The Nelson Soroptimist Education Trust offers up to 15 awards for female students each year. These are for women of any age who are New Zealand citizens or permanent residents living in the Top of the South Island (Nelson, Tasman, Marlborough) and facing financial hardship in commencing, continuing or completing any form of tertiary study or apprenticeship.

Full time and part-time students may apply for financial support to enrol in a course of academic study or practical learning that will improve their employment prospects or help achieve a change to better their professional, business or trades career.

Applications close 31 January. Awards are paid in March.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
