World's smallest monkeys have a baby at Nelson zoo
Hi Neighbours,
Have you heard the news? A baby pygmy marmoset monkey that weighs less than an AA battery is the newest arrival at Nelson's Natureland.
Peru and Inti are the proud parents of the baby who arrived on January 9. Hawken said Inti was a first-time mum and the first 48-hours for a newborn were often touch and go.
Will you be going to congratulate the new parents? The tiny baby monkey, whose weight is estimated between 16 to 20 grams, could be difficult to spot while clinging to one of its parents.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
