What happens when you crack your Knuckles.?

Lee from TheraSport Massage, Has closed

I'm often asked what happens when joints of the human body make an audible cracking noise...Take a look at this very informative article. The great news is that this article suggests knuckle cracking has no long term effect on the joint.
When massaging particularly on the back beside the vertebrae you often hear a click, the muscles around the joint are relaxing which with the pressure of massage can cause a cracking sound as though the joint is going back into place.....So while not really putting the joints back into place it simply just feels good.
Massage therapists are not trained to crack or click joints but this sometimes happens while pressure is applied along side the vertebrae or while traction is applied.
