No-one need to be alone on Christmas Day this year! Once again bringing back the Community Spirit to Havelock North/Hastings.

Carol Winters from Age Concern Havelock North

Christmas can be a very stressful time of year, and for those doing it tough, many are unable to provide their family with a special meal on Christmas Day. This year has certainly had its ups and downs, with enormous numbers of people affected by the water crisis leaving many out of pocket.

Age Concern Havelock North and Pure Catering are working together again to provide a Christmas Day Community Lunch free of charge for anyone in need. Last year we helped 120 and this year is shaping up to around 150 people.

We encourage the community to help us make Christmas brighter for those in need by donating to this worthy event. The lunch cannot be a success without the support of our community.

How can you help us?

We would greatly appreciate any donations to assist us in putting this event on. Donations can be made to the below bank account, through the give a little page or by contacting us directly .

Bank Account: Age Concern Havelock North –03 0658 0064609 003
Reference: Christmas Appeal or:
Visit our Give a Little page givealittle.co.nz...

Please contact us on 8776488 for further information. We will also be giving each child a present, further details will be available about the numbers closer to the time.  And FYI many thanks for people offering to volunteer but we have enough at this stage.

Thank you,
Carol and the team .

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
