Do you think a new velodrome and sports facility would be worth $22.9 million?

Reporter Hawke's Bay News

UPDATE: Napier City Council withdrawn a paper seeking a decision on whether to proceed to the next phase of the proposed Hawke’s Bay multi-use sports facility to gather more information. It is likely the council will consider this decision later this year.
ORIGINAL MESSAGE: The cost of a velodrome and multi-use sports facility proposed for Napier has jumped from $15 million to $22.9 million. The 52 per cent increase from a previous estimate is outlined in a detailed business case for the project, commissioned by Napier City Council and due to be discussed by councillors at a meeting on Wednesday. The council is proposing to pay for a third of the costs and the new projections mean the contribution from ratepayers would increase from $5m to $7.7m.
