Public health in HB. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/hawkes-bay-today/news/article.cfm?c_id=1503462&objectid=12358476
Let us not forget that Keriana Brooking is a government appointed and unelected bureaucrat to the HBDHB. She has no popular mandate. It will be interesting to see if she is also a copy cat of other DHB's that promote a race based advantage for Maori and Pacifica in not being subjected to qualifying by any standard for elective surgery. Seemingly elective surgery available on demand ahead of others on account of race. Perhaps this quote gives us a clue.
"It's never a comfortable space ... it's always a balance, and at times there will be parts of the community who will experience less service than they have, and there'll be parts of the community who will experience more."
"Then again. Improving the health outcomes for Māori and Pasifika communities, which make up more than 50 percent of the region's population; better access to mental health and addiction services and reduced waiting times for elective surgeries were among her her top priorities, Brooking said."
Curious assertion I never thought that Maori and Pacifica made up more than 50%of HB's population but hey who would doubt the word of a political appointee to head a DHB.
