Are you wearing pink on Friday?
CLUTHA HOUSING SHORTAGE
Ahead of Thursday's Clutha Leader, and Friday's PINK SHIRT DAY, here's some excellent heart-warming news on the Clutha housing shortage front: Through word of mouth (and a helpful cousin), one of the people featured in our story, Jody Lloyd of Milton, has found a new house, and signed a two-year lease! Big shout out to Jody's boss at Toko Sports Bar for giving her the time off to go view the property.
LAWRENCE CEILIDH on Friday
And here's a toe-warmer; the Lawrence Scottish Country Dance Group is holding a ceilidh on FRIDAY 7pm at the Simpson Park Sports Centre in Lawrence. Waitahuna School pupils have been learning a dance to demonstrate at what will be a big Scottish night.
PINK SHIRT DAY on Friday
For the first time, Balclutha is staging a rally on the main street, which starts at 12.30pm. Clutha District school pupils have been creating art work, and getting involved in projects with strong messages as part of Bullying-Free New Zealand Week. Some of the posters can be viewed in Balclutha shop windows. See some examples below, along with a pic of South Otago Year 13 pupil Alice Murray, who is part of the Peer Support Programme, to provide youth leadership and mentoring. She is pictured with principal Mike Wright, teacher Cath Bloxham, and Balclutha Rotary member Stuart Holgate, who presented the school with a $1500 cheque this week to help fund resources for the programme. Never a dull moment - they're only Pink!
