Masterton illustrator creates eye-catching artwork for major tourism operator

Piers Fuller Reporter from News of Wairarapa

Tranzit likes to keep things local, so they commissioned Masterton based illustrator Chris Davidson to design the artwork that features prominently in the new branding and along the side of the pink bus.
“I wanted to create an energetic, engaging illustration that captured the essence of Wellington, the Wairarapa, and the spirit of our place and people, incorporating the sights you’ll see along the way,” says Chris. “It’s a journey from the city to country, starting with a coffee and finishing with a Wairarapa wine. I’ve used a ribbon of road to portray the journey and link the various elements.”
Chris says it’s a great feeling knowing visitors from all around the world will be looking at his distinctive artwork and he enjoyed working with Tranzit on this project.
“I always aim to create something that connects with people, so a potential global audience is a great test of that,” he says.
“Tranzit was a pleasure to work with. Right form the get go Tessa and the team had a vision to create a statement piece. They gave me plenty of scope to create something exciting and unique … the perfect client!”
