Appeal for witnesses to Masterton assault
Police are seeking witnesses to an assault on a 14-year-old boy in Church Street, Masterton on the night of Friday the 21st September.
At around 9.30pm the boy was walking along Church Street alone when he was knocked to the ground and assaulted by a group of at least three people. We understand a member of the public may have seen the assault and yelled out at the attackers, who have then run from the scene.
The victim then walked home to his house and a family member took him to hospital for treatment for moderate injuries. Police are ensuring the victim is supported.
Police would urgently like to speak to the member of the public who intervened. We ask that person, and anyone else with information, to contact Detective Sergeant Mike Smith at Masterton Police on 06 370 0300.
If you wish to give information anonymously you can call Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
