School still closed
Wainuiomata High School has posted saying it is still closed.
"URGENT UPDATE - SCHOOL CLOSURE EXTENDED. Unfortunately, we have just been advised that there is another flood and the water has been turned off again. Wainuiomata High School will remain closed on Tuesday 03 August 2021. With no running water or bathroom facilities we have to keep the school closed for the health and safety of our students and staff. There will be no staff or students onsite. Please do not send your child to the High School tomorrow. Learning Conference appointments will continue as scheduled for Wednesday 04 August. The Ministry of Education Teacher Only Day will also still go ahead on Thursday 05 August. Again, we apologise for any inconvenience this causes. Emails have been sent to all caregivers, with text messages, on Facebook and to all students via Teams. Kind regards, Wainuiomata High School."
Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
