Tsunami Blue Lines

Callum from Hutt City Council

Spotted! The first tsunami Blue Lines in Lower Hutt have started to be painted. Blue Lines are road markings that show the likely maximum reach of a large tsunami. They also show where you need to get past in such an event. Remember if an earthquake is long or strong - get gone! Don't wait for an official tsunami warning.

Hutt City Council, Wellington Regional Emergency Management Office (WREMO), and GNS Science have worked together in Lower Hutt to identify where the Blue Lines should go. It's going to take a while for all the Blue Lines to be painted as we'll need a run of good weather but in the meantime you can check out where they're going on our website
www.huttcity.govt.nz.... In the next few weeks every household in Lower Hutt will also receive a pamphlet with more information about Blue Lines.
