Tui along the river bank

Louise from Woburn

The flax is in flower and the tui are literally posing on the end of the flower spikes. This guy insisted on following me and my oldest daughter along the Hutt River trail, just in case I needed a few different angles. So, here's something you might not have seen before (if you live in Canterbury and/or an underground bunker and don't get out much) - a tui (Prosthemadera novaeseelandiae) on a flax flower. It makes a refreshing change from tui in a kowhai tree.

The Team from Volunteer Wellington

Today, the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand encourages you to tautoko a community organisation. It’s no secret that the pandemic, rising costs and extreme weather events have made things tough for our organisations over the past few years. We have hundreds of volunteer roles on our website which will help you do to do this! Check out this small selection and head to our website to find more and to register your interest:
