Unearthed fact that the NSW Govt have the original sale of SOUTH ISLAND 15 February 1840, pre the Treaty of Waitangi. Sold to Wm Chas Wentworth and Whaler John Jones of Sydney.

12 years later they built this edifice and IT IS STILL AVAILABLE TO VIEW!
