Yield to win!
One of the biggest mistakes people make in marriage is trying to "win" disagreements and arguments with their spouse.
When it comes to relationships, if one partner is “winning,” then both partners are losing.
That's why it's important to accept your partner's influence.
We encourage couples to adopt the Aikido principle of "yield to win."
The next time your spouse makes a complaint, think about it as their way of communicating how important the issue is to them - not as an attack on you. Then, instead of getting defensive, identify the reasonable part of their request, and yield to win.
Letting your partner influence you is one of The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work by Dr John Gottman.
By identifying and empathizing with your partner's point of view, you are more likely to find a solution that honors both of you.
That's a win/win.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
