Eastern Bays Shared Path named
The EBSP project has been gifted the name Tupua Horo Nuku by Kura Moeahu of Te Ati Awa Taranaki Whānui in a celebration of the project’s cultural narrative on 24 February.
The name is part of the Tupua narrative being infused with other projects around the Harbour and Valley. It tells the story of Ngake, one of the two tupua who created Te Whanganui-a-Tara and Te Awa Kairangi in traditional narrative.
The path will connect communities in the Eastern Bays with a new walking and cycling route, and provide more resilient seawalls on Marine Drive, the area’s only road access.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
