Can you help us find Champagne a forever home? đŸ¶

Danielle Tucker from

Check out our clever girl Champagne getting excited at playing with her new cuddly toy.

We know she isn’t a tiny cute and fluffy puppy, but believe us when we say she epitomises a puppy at heart.

Very sadly, her previously owner didn’t have the time or knowledge to care for Champagne properly, and as a result, she spent most of her time chained up in the garden. This meant she missed out on those vital stages of learning boundaries, but most importantly, what is normal. That impressionable first year of life didn’t pan out as it should have.

To her, treats, open space and new people aren’t normal. She gets so excited like a little bottle of bubbles ready to pop and just needs some help reigning that in. Our dedicated canine attendants have been working with her, and so far she has exceeded expectations. They showed us how she can sit, stay and find hidden treats. How she mirrors a calm demeanor, because she is so eager to please and looks up to humans; she has always wanted company because she has only ever really known her own.

We are positive that with an experienced dog owner she will just blossom into a wonderful, yet still unique character. Baby steps will do it perfectly, and a calm routine without too many new things at once. It really wouldn’t take too much more than love, and some time dedicated to being her hero.

If you would like to know more about Champagne, or know someone who is an experienced owner looking to welcome a new family member, please do contact our canine team. They would love to hear from you. You can contact them on 09 256 7309 or send them an email at dogadoptions@spca.org.nz. Or come in and meet her at our animal village. We are at 50 Westney road, Mangere and are open 10am-4pm, 7 days.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
