Police remind people to secure their property
Invercargill Police remind people to secure their properties at night time or when left unattended, including farm buildings, fuel tanks and vehicles.
There has been spate of burglaries, and motor vehicles that have been broken into over the last three weeks in the Invercargill area. Targeted vehicles have been parked up driveways and on street fronts left unlocked, or with valuables left in plain sight.
- If you’re are away from your house for any length of time, let your neighbours know so they can keep an eye on your property.
- Record the serial numbers of tools and valuable items, or mark these with an identifier that can be traced to your property.
- When you leave your vehicle, make sure it is locked and that you don't leave valuable items in it.
Police also ask members of the public to report any suspicious activity while it’s in progress and if you feel something illegal is happening or you are in danger call 111 immediately.
If you have information related to these recent offences or any other dishonesty offending please contact the Invercargill Police Station at 211 0400 or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0880 555 111.
