What do you think of the discussion about the Lumsden Maternity Centre?
The Southern District Health Board has proposed to downgrade the Lumsden Maternity Centre from an in-patient primary birthing unit to becoming a maternal and child hub in a review of maternity services in Otago and Southland.
One would also be established at Te Anau.
But what is a maternal and child hub?
They've been referred to as a "glorified coffee group" online this week, so we approached the Southern District Health Board to find out what one is.

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?
With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.
This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.
