Homes saved by helicopters in Waimarama Road blaze
Flames were licking at their homes, but then came those magnificent men in their flying machines.
Despite one house having been gutted - amid a state of emergency in the Hastings district - a heroic dousing effort by helicopter pilots at the Waimarama Road fire on Monday was lauded for limiting the damage.
