Countdown and plastic

Rosie from Parkvale

Hi all, Just thought I'd have a whinge. On a recent hot day I did my large amount of shopping at Countdown and got to the counter where I got a serve for not bringing my bags. Never mind - they were in the boot of my car and I didn't feel like going and getting them. I would just put everything in the trolley after they'd been scanned and paid for, and wheel out all the loose groceries to my car and pack them there.

Checkout lady not happy about that. Wanted the bags or I could buy some more. So a futile discussion ensued about how the plastic shopping bags were not single use but very useful indeed, but all the meat packaging and wrapped cucumbers and so on were single use packaging. Ah the customer is never right. So I won't be back.

Then today I get a card in my letterbox from Countdown about Weetbix and it had been through the Post Office so there wouldn't be non-delivery through it being junkmail and it was wrapped in single use plastic!! My last dealings with Countdown is to phone them on Monday and cancel my one card.
