Progress being made on Hastings Municipal Building upgrade
The redevelopment of the Municipal Building in Hastings is progressing with earthquake strengthening work set to be completed by April next year, and planning underway for Stage 2 of the redevelopment.
The building was closed more than five years ago for the strengthening works, and since that time extensive consultation has taken place with the community to determine the future of this heritage facility.
The cost of the work is $5.5m and councillors will be asked to fund the work shortly. Council had been planning a community fundraising programme, but that this was taken off the table because of COVID-19.

Prime Minister delivering apology
On Tuesday 12 November, the Prime Minister will deliver a public apology to survivors of abuse in care in Parliament.
You can register your interest to attend the event in Parliament, or if you want to watch it with friends, whānau or a support person you can attend an event at the Due Drops Event Centre in Auckland, Shed 6 in Wellington or the Christchurch Town Hall.
