Portaloos distributed to local homes as wastewater systems struggle to cope
Hastings neighbours are fearful of having wastewater back up and flowing out their toilets, and so were delivered portaloos during this week's heavy rainfall.
Mandy Cotter and her family, who live on Lawrence Street in Akina, were one of eight properties to receive a portaloo during the deluge that began early this week. Cotter, who has lived at her property for 14 years said the threat of backing up toilets had only arisen in the past few years.
