Families and management of a major Hamilton city marae are in mourning after its wharenui was all but destroyed in an overnight blaze.
The meeting house at Hui Te Rangiora Marae in Clarence St, known as Tu Waerae, was opened in November 1974 by the first Māori Queen, Te Atairangikaahu.
