Poll: What do you reckon? Are lots of young people heading overseas?

Libby Reporter from Waikato Local

Alex Hutt went from struggling on the dole in New Zealand to making over $100,000 a year in a job across the ditch.

Although the 25-year-old misses New Zealand, he won’t be giving up his Aussie lifestyle any time soon and he’s not alone - Statistics from Infometrics show a steady increase, beginning after the Covid-19 lockdowns, in young people leaving New Zealand either permanently or for an extended period.

Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.

This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
