Poll: Have you ever tried to do traffic management for an event?

Libby Reporter from Waikato Local

The cost cut crusading Minister for Local Government hasn’t banned Christmas, but says councils shouldn’t be looking to ratepayers but rather volunteer help if they want to contribute to parades and commemorations.

However, he’s promising to help by getting road cones out of Santa’s way.

Suellen’s sweet Christmas tradition

Linda Jones Retirement Village

The festive season is always a great excuse to indulge your sweet tooth, and this time of year poses the perfect opportunity to bring a real showstopper to the Christmas table.

For Suellen’s family, that showstopper is Croquembouche, an impressive tower of cream puffs bound together with spun sugar that is popular at weddings in France and Italy.

What began as a birthday treat at a local French café has become a cherished Christmas tradition for Suellen and her 17-year-old twin granddaughters, Ellie and Sadie. Every year, the trio gather in Suellen’s apartment at William Sanders Village to cook this festive dessert - a holiday highlight they all treasure.

Poll: Have you ever had copper/building materials stolen?

Libby Totton Reporter from Waikato Times

Julie Guest woke at midnight to the sound of copper being stripped off her church - and startled the perpetrator.

The exhausted vicar was sleeping on-site at St John’s Church, Te Awamutu, amid a string of thefts in her patch, “trying to be the policeman as well as the priest”.
