Safer speed zone
Dear Huntington residents,
Hamilton City Council on Tuesday passed a new proposal to reduce the speed limit within Huntington from 50km/h to 40km/h.
As a local resident I'm personally a little frustrated and perplexed by this move. I don't necessarily disagree with the safer speed zone area - however I do question is it necessary? Is there a known risk within our community? Is there a high frequency of vehicles traveling fast (above 40) putting ourselves, our children or elderly at risk?
What this certainly has done however is reinforce the strong community opinion from 2016 that exiting Huntington Drive (both east and west) onto Wairere drive would certainly be made safer if the speed limit on Wairere Drive was reduced from 80km/h to 60km/h!
Hamilton City council are suggesting that we hold a community meeting to readdress the residents concerns and worry about exiting onto Wairere Drive.
Please reply to saferighthandturn@gmail.com if you would like to be included within such correspondence, please also update us if you have left the area and want to be excluded from future communications?
If you have new neighbor's, friend's or family whom may have an interest or view on this safety concern - please invite them to join our group and we encourage joining the 'Safe Right Hand Turn' group within www.neighbourly.co.nz... too
Kindest regards,
Concerned Huntington Resident
Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?
An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.
When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
