Senior Waikato mayors are welcoming a new national push by Local Government New Zealand to promote alternative funding and financing methods to ease rates pressure and develop key infrastructure.

LGNZ - which on Thursday was holding a national hui in Wellington - released a list of 25 funding and financing tools to help take direct pressure off ratepayers.

The median house price has remained consistent at just above $1 million over the last year, but reaching a peak of nearly $1.5m in January 2022.
