What do you think about the potential job losses in Tokoroa?

There were deflated waves and sullen faces as Kinleith Mill workers drove off from hearing that hundreds of jobs were on the line in Tokoroa.

Oji Fibre Solutions chief executive Dr Jon Ryder held a consultation meeting with staff on Wednesday morning revealing a proposal for 230 jobs to be axed by June 2025.

Julie Guest woke at midnight to the sound of copper being stripped off her church - and startled the perpetrator.

The exhausted vicar was sleeping on-site at St John’s Church, Te Awamutu, amid a string of thefts in her patch, “trying to be the policeman as well as the priest”.
